How to adjust Euro or concealed hinges

If you notice that a cabinet door is sitting slightly skew or is catching on the frame, try one of the following easy DIY tricks to adjust the door.

1. Adjust the height
Mountings on the hinge allow for slight adjustment vertically. Simply loosen the top and bottom screws that hold the cabinet to the frame to adjust the height either up or down. Re-tighten the screws slightly and close the door to check the alignment as you move the door in either position. Once the correct height is set, firmly tighten the screws.

2. Adjust the distance from the cabinet frame
Where a door is not sitting flush with the frame, or catches on the hinge side of the frame, slightly loosen the screw at the back of the slider. With this loosened you can adjust the horizontal position of the door by sliding the hinge forwards or backwards, depending on how the door needs to be adjusted. Firmly secure the screw once the adjustment is made.

3. Adjust the horizontal placing
In a long row of doors, such as kitchen cabinets and closets, you may need to adjust the door when there are large gaps between the doors. This is done by loosening or tightening the front screw on the hinge. As you do this the hinge is lowered or raised from the side of the cabinet, which in turn moves the door left or right (side-to-side) to ensure exact positioning to line up with other doors.

Since there are two – or more- hinges on a door, these will need to be adjusted as well. Should only the top part of the door be out of alignment, adjusting the top and bottom hinges will allow you to move the top and bottom of each door until it is flush and straight.
