SABIE: 10:30 – Protesters gathered in town this morning and warned police and security that if they are not allowed to march down the main street, they will turn violent.

More than a thousand protesters are currently kneeling before the municipal buildings, edging closer to a small group of police officers and the town centre. This follows after various threats to boycott the town of Sabie

The protest relates to a service delivery memorandum which was handed over to the Thaba Chweu Municipality during the previous strike that took place in September 2015.

Lowvelder reporter, Stefan de Villiers is on the scene to provide regular updates that will be published in this post. A full account of the day will be in tomorrow’s printed edition of the Lowvelder.
