Reader’s Letter: Treat customers with respect

In the competitive business world it is important to run your business differently, so that you can stay ahead of pack. Many people in towns and townships start businesses, but they don’t last long. The best way to make your business successful is to know how to attract and retain customers.

When you treat customers with respect they will tell their friends and families about your excellent customer service. Word of mouth is the most effective way of advertising your business. I see no need to burn the well-known “lucky sticks” and waste money on sangomas. My late father used to tell me: “Son, your success in a business is in the way you treat your customers”. Your customers are your kings and queens. You should try and keep them happy all the time. If you cannot do that then you might as well close your business and look for a job.
