Lowveld ‘I Do’: Happy couple married in 1946 wait 70 years for dream wedding photos

Acouple who tied the knot in 1946 have finally got the wedding photos they dreamed of after 70 years of happy marriage.

When Ferris, 90, and Margaret Romaire, 89, got married in a 15-minute ceremony, nobody had a camera to capture their special day.

Photographer Lara Carter said she loved taking photos of the adorable couple as they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.

She added that she was “beyond thrilled” after the photos became a hit on social media, adding: “They are just so sweet!”

Margaret said “I’m sure people had cameras then but evidently nobody though to bring a camera to our wedding. We didn’t have weddings then like people do today.

“The photographer was just so pleasant and made us feel at ease but we felt foolish, being 89 and 90 and playing dress-up like this.”

Many have shared the photos online, with one person commenting: “These are amazing photos of an awesome couple. Congratulations to your grandparents.”

“That’s amazing!!! And the pics truly bring tears to my eyes! Well done!”wrote another.
