MBOMBELA – No children, no cooking, no men, just fun, food, friends and entertainment. This is what the Rooikat Liquors Ladies’ Night at Kuzuri Restaurant offered on June 30. The event drew a record number of 320 women.

An array of delicious snacks and various liquor suppliers’ tables was there to tempt the women to indulge, which they did, happily.

Michelle Pike, Esme Small and Monia Botha.

Upon arrival at the event, they were adorned with flowered necklaces and given a welcoming drink. Fire dancers took to the floor and showed off their skills while the ladies browsed around the Craft Gin Bar to taste drinks with an orange flair. Another great winner for the night was a rose-petal cocktail which had the ladies queuing up for more.

All the liquor and food was included in the ticket price of just R250 – an absolute bargain. Throughout the evening women won prizes through the lucky draws. One went home with a tablet, many won jewellery and hair-salon vouchers, and there was a whole lot more to keep them entertained.

Havana entertained the women with piano and vocals. Its music style covered smooth jazz, blues and pop ballads.

The women danced the night away and really let their hair down. Total strangers became instant besties as a huge crowd became like a party of friends. Groups of women danced to their favourite songs and all inhibitions were lost.

“This is one of the best ladies’ night events I have ever attended in the city,” said one of the guests, and all those around her agreed.

Vivienne de Villiers and Lizane Heine.

One of the event organisers, Milize Viljoen, said although they had not advertised the event a lot, they had an overwhelming demand for tickets. “We had so many women calling. If the place where it was held had been a bigger event, I think we would have had over 500 women attending. I had to turn so many away as there were just no more tickets left.”

If you missed out, do not despair.

There might be a surprise awaiting when summer arrives, in the form of another such event.
