Two alleged killers in court

Ethel Mdluli and Eugene Scheepers.

MBOMBELA – Ethel Mdluli and the two co-accused in her husband’s murder appeared in the White River Magistrate’s Court on Friday.

She faces charges of murder alongside Peter Khoza (52), who police say was her boyfriend, and Xolani Mngwenya (34), who was the alleged hitman in charge of killing her late husband, Solomon Mdluli.

The three were arrested on March 16. Solomon, the principal of Mahlatse Secondary School in Nkomazi, was believed to have been strangled and suffocated with a black plastic bag. The case was postponed to October 5.

Eugene Scheepers will appear in the Barberton Magistrate’s Court on October 3. Scheepers stands accused of killing his late girlfriend, policewoman WO Charlotte de Beer. De Beer was a well-known figure in the community, having served the police for more than a decade.

Shortly after her death on December 16, 2015, it was believed that she had committed suicide.

Inquest results led to the presumtion being refuted, and Scheepers being charged.
