BREAKING NEWS – Charges dropped against Gavin Wingrave

Gavin Wingrave (51), a well-known ballroom dancing instructor in the Lowveld, walked out of jail this morning, a free man. He allegedly killed a man in self defense on Friday, was set to remain in custody until his bail hearing on August 21.

Bossies Community Justice’s Albert Gryvenstein said their attorneys had then assisted Wingrave.  This morning, the state  decided to withdraw the case against Wingrave. His defense attorney Donnie Doncaster said the state withdrew the case due to a lack of evidence against him.

On the what happened on the day in question, Gryvenstein said  Wingrave was travelling on a dirt road in the Rocky Drift area when a rock hit his vehicle.
“He stopped to take a look at the damage when he was allegedly attacked by the very same man who had purportedly thrown the rock. A scuffle ensued during which he allegedly stabbed the attacker in the chest with a knife.”

Wingrave phoned Gryvenstein, who contacted emergency services and the police. The man, who had not been identified, reportedly died moments after medical services arrived at the scene.

Wingrave was then accompanied to White River Police Station by SAPS members.
