Up close with the Parlotones’ Kahn and Neil

MBOMBELA-  On Saturday 14 October, the Parlotones will be performing live at Emnotweni. Lowvelder got an opportunity to interview lead vocalist Kahn Morbee and drummer Neil Pauw.

During the interview both Neil and Kahn spoke about what they liked most about being on tour.

For Kahn, it was the excitement of performing live:

“Every Musician dreams about being able to take their music across the country and to every part of the world. We are very fortunate to be able to do that. It’s great to take the stage and to be loved by people who are fans of your music. Whenever you play live their is a sense of joy and a unique energy which you cannot find in any other conditions.”

For Neil, it was the social connections which he always forged:

” I enjoying spending time with my band mates on tour and being able to share our music live with the fans. On tour, you get to meet new and very interesting people. I always experience an intense energy rush any time we play live on tour.”

The trip to Emnotweni is a part of the bands Here There and Everywhere tour.  When asked about what makes this tour different in relation to their previous tours Neil stated:

“In the previous tour we did a lot of story telling in which we went into the history of the band and the stories behind the songs, so there was a lot of talking. For this show, we will be going back to the music which brought us to where we are now as the Parlotones. Fans can expect a show that is both upbeat and energetic.”

In closing Kahn spoke about the new album which they have in the works. While not giving too much away he did give a few juicy details: ” We will be releasing a 20 track album to coincide with the 20 year anniversary of the band which will be happening 2019. Fans can look forward to this album next year.”
