Soar like a bird across Hazyview forest with Skyway Trails, then monkey around on the tree-top obstacle course

Your journey starts at Perry’s Bridge Trading Post & Tourism Centre off the R40 in Hazyview, where Skyway Trails’ office is situated. There you will be given a quick rundown of what to expect by an informative, entertaining guide before being driven in a safari vehicle to the start of the trail, in a pristine indigenous forest. The scenic drive takes around 10 minutes.

Then it is time to experience the thrill of Mpumalanga’s longest aerial cable trail, as you glide over one of the last remaining natural forested valleys along the Sabie River, adjacent to the Kruger National Park.

The aerial cable trail takes you down into the valley basin, stopping along the way on a number of elevated platforms to admire the natural vegetation, birdlife and the views of the forest floor below.

Each section of the trail varies in length from 70 to 230m, linking a total of 10 platforms. The total length of the trail is 1.2km. It was designed and built to South African civil engineering standards and all the equipment has been designed specifically for this activity.

The specifics aside, though, all you really need to know is that the aerial trail is easy, fun and oh-so-rejuvenating.

Once you complete the trail, you will be driven back to Perry’s Bridge. Of course, you won’t be ready to go home yet.

The Hazyview area is so beautiful you will want to make a day of your visit there. Enjoy a meal or drink in one of the many restaurants in the area, before getting down to some monkey business at Skyway’s Tree-Top Challenge, situated adjacent to their Perry’s Bridge offices.

The tree-top challenge is an elevated obstacle course – basically a giant jungle gym suitable for both young children and adults. It includes balancing beams, rope bridges, spider webs and much more, ending with a 50m zipline.
