Hi-Tech Security operations manager Callum MacPherson said two men approached the victim and threatened him with a knife. “One of our guards noticed the incident and immediately called it in. The two men jumped into a red Volkwagen Jetta and sped away.”

One of the suspects jumped out of the vehicle. “Our rapid response vehicle caught up to the vehicle in the Old Pretoria Road, where the suspect was arrested.”

Stroh said the 32-year-old suspect appeared in court on Monday morning on charges of robbery. “We are still investigating the matter further.”

Crossing Centre management were approached for comment, but declined.

In another incident on Monday morning, MacPherson said he had seen on a WhatsApp group people commenting about a suspicious person wearing an orange hoodie walking around Acacia Crescent.

“At around 05:50, I decided to drive around the area before going to work, as I live close by. I spotted the man wearing the hoodie on the corner of Kremetart and Fig Tree streets. As he saw me, he dropped the items he was carrying and ran.”

MacPherson said the suspect managed to evade capture after he jumped over a fence. “I found he had dropped a sound system and a fold-up chair.”

Not long afterwards the owner of the goods contacted him and confirmed they had indeed been stolen off his property.
